• If you go through QUIDCO you may eventually get 4% back.

However I find when I select it the price jumps up.
Edit but if you select one year warrenty it takes off the extra as pointed out above.

Remember to adjust for the 3 year warranty - Dell automatically adds this. Take it off, and you see the advertised price.

Well I have the Inspiron 6000, I'm afraid I'm not too clever with the computer jargon either but I love it. Mine has the Celeron M processor in it and to be honest it is fine, does everything I want it to. I can even use it for online gaming although for that it is slower than a desktop. If it is just for home or office work then it is great.
• Worth it with the double memory and free delivery...as apang says the warranty makes a big difference in price!

I have the inspiron 6000 but mine is high spec and I wouldn't buy anything less if you want to do anything 'sexy' with it. if all u need is word processing and email then the cheap one is just about fine. Frankly 1024 RAM, 80gb hard disk minimum I would buy to futureproof but it all depends on your needs.

mmmm just had another look, seems like the double memory thing only applies to the mid and higher range, not the lower one..........

Whether a laptop is any good for you depends entirely on what you want it to do for you!

The cheapest decent one I've seen recently has been the "IBM" (=Lenovo, now) Thinkpad R50e that sells (sold?) for £399 in Staples stores (not online). Only has a slowish Celeron processor, 256 MB memory, 40 GB hard disk, but was wireless enabled, had a decent 15" screen, DVD writer and a couple of USB ports (for example). So if you didn't want it to run games or process enormous video files, it might be a good bet. Otherwise, otherwise.
